HENRY, Troy Henry
August 27, 1962 - March 9, 2026
It is with great sadness that Troy’s family announces his passing on Monday, March 9, at the age of 63. Troy passed away peacefully at Chapman House Hospice with his family at his side.
He was a loving husband of 35 years to his wife Jane, and a proud and devoted father to his children Tyler and Tianna. Troy was the much-loved son of Joyce and the late Jack Henry, and brother to Ryan, Garth (Janet), and Kendra (Paul). He was a dedicated brother-in-law to Elizabeth, David and Stephen, and a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was also a great dog-dad and animal lover.
Troy Henry grew up in St. Catharines, where he developed a passion for lacrosse, among other sports. After high school, he went on to graduate from the Kinesiology program at McMaster University. Following that, he completed his Bachelor of Education at Queen’s University. This led to a 34 year career with the Durham District School Board teaching geography and phys ed (not gym!), as well as coaching. In his own words, he “loved” his work.
After 35 years in Whitby, Troy and Jane moved to Thornbury, where he enjoyed skiing, hiking, walking, hockey, kayaking, and many days on the golf course. He was happy being active and surrounded by nature. Possibly one of Troy’s greatest feats was cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs and the San Francisco 49ers without wavering.
Troy always held his family close to his heart and cherished time spent with them. Wherever he lived and worked, he easily built a circle of lifelong friends. With his smile and easygoing charm, he created a lifetime of memories rooted in kindness, humour and love.
In keeping with Troy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in a few weeks time. Troy’s family will be forever grateful for the compassion and kindness he and his family have been shown.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Grey Bruce Hospice Foundation – Chapman House, or to Families of FANA, WNY (General Donation to FANA Bogota).
