With heavy hearts, the family announces that Bruce passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Thursday evening, August 20, 2026;
Bruce Warren Hyland was 78 years of age. Bruce is survived by his longtime partner Phyllis Jones.
He was a proud and devoted Dad of Wade (Sheena) and Grandpa of Rowan.
Dear brother of Brenda Bussche (late Lloyd), Norma Lalonde (Harold), Rita Fraser (Brian) and Marilyn McMillan (Rob).
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Son of the late Lois Hyland (nee Cunningham) and David Hyland.
Bruce was a true man of the woods.
He left us following a courageous and fierce fight with cancer.
Through every step of his illness, he showed the same strength, grit, and quiet resolve that defined the way he lived his entire life.
A genuine outdoorsman at heart, he was never more at home than when he was out in nature.
Whether navigating the quiet woods while trapping or spending early mornings out hunting or fishing.
His passion for the outdoors started at a young age when he discovered the unique fascination for pigeons. He poured his time into raising and racing them which turned into a lifelong hobby.
Bruce also enjoyed his Chevelle. He took immense joy in the simple pleasure of cruising down an open country road listening to the rumble of the engine.
Above all his passions, nothing brought him greater joy, fulfillment, and pride than his grandson, Rowan.
Rowan was the absolute light of his life; his ultimate source of pride and joy, and a constant comfort throughout his final journey.
The love he had for his grandson was endless.
His legacy of strength and quiet passion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior.
Friends wishing to pay their final respects to Bruce can gather along the Burnstown Road in White Lake
where a horse drawn procession will take place on Saturday morning, October 10th commencing at 10:30
and leading to the White Lake Cemetery for a graveside service to be held at 11 o’clock.
