Christina Kardol (Chris as she was known to her friends and family, and Auntie Teen Teen to her many nieces and nephews) passed away quickly from cancer at age 58 surrounded by family and friends while under the excellent care of the palliative team at Waterloo Region Health Network–Chicopee campus.
Chris is survived, and remembered, by her partner in life Marie Morrison and her son Lucas Morrison-Kardol. She is also survived, and remembered, by her mother Irene Kardol, older sister Nancy (Lawrence) Easton, older brother Rene Kardol, identical twin sister Helena (Kenny) Doucette, younger (and closest) brother Albert (Carol) Kardol, and younger sisters Jennifer (Sheldon) Thompson, and Karen Gallant. Also, by her many beloved nieces and nephews including Emily, Jeremy, Tifini, Malia, Nicola, Aaron, Nick, Kendra, Corrin, Jesse, Kristen, Justin, James, Katherine, Sebastian, grand nieces and nephews, Uncle John (Joyce) Vandergaag, decades-long friends, colleagues, and the beloved family dog, Toby.
She was predeceased by her father, Henk Kardol, Aunt Henny, and other aunts and uncles, including Aunt Nanda, and Aunt Lena.
Chris and Helena (with whom Chris had a special bond throughout her life) were born in Toronto before the family moved to Prince Edward Island. Chris grew up in PEI and was a recognized athlete and dedicated student. She moved to Kitchener at 18 and worked a variety of jobs while she earned her Bachelor and Master degrees in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. Chris and Marie met at WLU and fell in love, buying a house together and deciding to have a baby. Chris gave birth to Lucas on May 14, 2004. She was a deeply dedicated and loving Mama to Lucas whom she loved with her whole heart. Chris took every opportunity to support Lucas in his career as an actor. She was deeply devoted to supporting others as well, both through her career as a counselor and in her relationships with her family and friends.
Chris was a social connector, often planning gatherings and trips for family and friends. She loved watching movies with Lucas, listening to music, interior decorating and restoring antique furniture, theater, travel, reading, cooking (and watching cooking competitions), wine touring with Marie and friends, kayaking, sunsets, visiting the South Shore, and her dog, Toby. Her intentional, thoughtful, caring, colorful, beautiful spirit is deeply felt and missed.
