Obituary of Barry “Ross” Kay
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Ross Kay, who left us on May 7, 2025, in his home in Hartley at the age of 76. Born on May 28, 1948, Ross was devoted to his family, cherished by his friends, and a steady presence for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ross was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Helen Kay (née Rea). He was also predeceased by his parents, Marjorie and David Kay, brothers Bev Kay (Maureen), and Steven Kay (Linda), brothers-in-law Ken Gorrill and Murray McArthur, and nephews Donny and Mike Gorrill.

He leaves behind his loving children, Colin Kay (Andrea) and Katrina Pardy (Jody), and his much-loved grandchildren: James, Jaxon, Nickolas, Brock, Mason, and McKenna, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride.

Ross is survived by his sisters, Marlene Gorrill and Shirley McArthur. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Laird, Alisa, Adam, Ashley, Mark, and Scott.

Throughout his working years, Ross dedicated himself to roles with Highways, the Golf Course, and Breakaway Fuels, earning the respect of colleagues and the local community. A true outdoorsman, Ross loved moose hunting with extended family and found joy in nature.

His happiest place was “Awesome Alley,” a beloved cabin he built himself on family land—his “blood, sweat, and tears.” It was here that he spent peaceful weekends with his wife Helen, cutting wood and enjoying the solitude of the outdoors.

Ross was known for his kind heart and generous spirit, always ready to lend a hand or help anyone in need. He will be remembered for his humility, quiet strength, and unwavering love for family and friends.

In accordance with Ross’s wishes, there will be no service. Donations in his memory can be made to Brock Minor Hockey or the Woodville Figure Skating Club.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Stoddart Funeral Home.
