Lois Eileen Kayaras

With faith in God and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Lois Eileen Kayaras , surrounded by the love and comfort of family, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Kingston, Ontario, in her 94th year. Cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Jessie May Burns (née Torbett). Reunited with her beloved husband, John Nicholas Kayaras, with whom they shared fifty years of happiness in marriage. Loving mother of Robert “Bob” Richardson (Lucy), Margaret Merkley (Chris Reed), Janet Cairns (Alexander “Sandy”), and Sunday Kayaras (Ely Sbrozzi). Predeceased by son-in-law Kenneth Merkley. Proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by all her Burns siblings, Douglas (twin brother), James, Florence, Robert, Stewart, and Wendell. Lois will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her generosity and kind spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

Arrangements entrusted to Rushnell Funeral Home – Belleville. In keeping with Lois’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Quinte Alliance Church, 373 Bridge St W., Belleville. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Humane Society of Hastings and Prince Edward and/or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
