
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Luise Kliewer (Neufeld) on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by the love of her family at St. Mary’s General Hospital.
Luise was the beloved wife of the late Jacob Kliewer (2003) and a devoted mother to Harry (Cindy), Anita (Harry), Vera (late Bob), and Rob (Koral). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Mark, Kim (Jordan), Paul, Melissa (Josh), Kristen, Cole, Sienna, and Kaden, and a cherished great-grandmother to James, Owen, Sophie and Seth.
Luise’s greatest joy was her family, and her love and strength will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her sister Ira, brother Alex (Olga), Sisters-in-Law Hermine and Hedy as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Bob Nightingale and several siblings.
Born in 1934, Luise and her family fled the war in Europe and eventually emigrated from Paraguay to Canada in search of a new beginning. She settled in Waterloo with her husband Jacob and their young son Harry. Together, Luise and Jacob worked tirelessly to build a life for their family. Luise was a longtime employee of Kaufman Footwear in Kitchener.
Luise was a faithful member of the Waterloo-Kitchener United Mennonite Church, where she gave generously of her time and energy. She was well known for her work in the church kitchen and was an active participant in the Silver Spoons social group. Her warm hospitality, kindness, and unwavering faith touched many lives.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, especially those in the ICU and 6th floor respiratory unit, for their compassionate care.
Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Wanda Roth Amstutz, followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room. A private family interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery. A livestream and recording of the service will be available on Luise’s tribute page at www.erbgood.com.
