KROLL, Alex Kroll
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Alex Kroll on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the age of 93.

Although sorrowful, the family rejoices in knowing that he has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Beloved husband of Shirley Kroll, to whom he was married for 66 wonderful years.

Dear father of Roger (Linda) Kroll, Joyce (Ron) Knapper, Jeff (MaryAnn) Kroll, Ken (Sherri) Kroll, and Paul (Paula) Kroll.
Loving Grandpa of Katelyn (Wes), Steven (Stacey), Brittany (Nick), Kristen (Rob), Alexis, Jonah, Olivia, Kylie, Caleb, and Spencer. Also, a great-grandpa to seven wonderful great-grandchildren.

Alex will also be remembered by his two surviving sisters, Martha VanderWerf and Alice Deelstra; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Betty Bylsma; and sisters-in-law Rose Feddema and Corrie Huizinga.

Born on December 19, 1932, in the Netherlands, Alex was the third child of Otto and Grace Kroll. After surviving World War II, the family moved to Canada in 1948. On May 7, 1960, he married Shirley, and together they raised five children.

Alex worked in various jobs but eventually settled on a career as a Registered Nurse’s Assistant at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, where he worked for 28 years. Many patients would testify to the gentle and loving care he showed while they were under his care.

A gifted piano and organ player, he served his church and community by regularly accompanying church services, weddings, funerals, nursing home services, talent nights, and too many other events to name.

His faith in Jesus was evident in his love for and support of his church, as well as the many needs within his community and around the world. These included sponsoring and supporting refugees from Vietnam, World Vision, Meals on Wheels, and the Friendship Club, to name a few.
His greatest love, other than his Savior, was his family. He delighted in entertaining his children and grandchildren with his sense of humour and cherished sharing special occasions together. He also enjoyed collecting clocks and various knick-knacks, which he loved to polish and display.

Alex retired at the age of 60 and enjoyed many wonderful years with Shirley while living at Trillium Village Retirement Home.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff of Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, especially those on the second floor, for the caring support they provided to Alex and his family.

A visitation will take place on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Denning’s of Strathroy, 32 Metcalfe Street West, Strathroy, Ontario, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at Denning’s on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. For those who are unable to attend, a LIVESTREAM link will be available for viewing 10 minutes before the service. A private family interment will follow at Strathroy Cemetery. Guests are invited to remain at the funeral home for a luncheon where family and friends can gather to share stories and memories.

In memory of Alex, donations to Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, 37 Frank (Youth for Christ), or World Renew would be greatly appreciated.
