He passed away on April 13, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario, the city where he was born 68 years ago. A man of extraordinary energy and an ever present smile, Eric had a truly charismatic personality that lit up every room he walked into. Self-described as “the Energizer Bunny,” Eric directed his output towards his many passions that gave his life purpose.
A proud general contractor, Eric poured his heart and soul into his work. He was never one to turn down a job and the clients satisfaction always meant more to him than anything else. He was known for building genuine connections over the years forming relationships with clients that often stretched well beyond the job site.
Music was the soundtrack to Eric’s life. A lifelong music lover and former college DJ, his taste spanned genres from classic rock to big band and everything in between. A direct contrast to his trade, Eric loved to get dressed up and ball room dance whenever the chance arose.
Eric Nicholas shared a deep love of fly fishing with his son Nicholas, and the two made unforgettable memories on fishing trips to Nunavut, Montana, British Columbia and beyond. But it was the many back country canoe trips in Algonquin Park with Nick and his friends that always got him the most excited.
Eric was devoted to his daughter Alicia in the way only a dad can be. The two shared a special love of movies and a lifetime of cosy film nights together. He adored his grandsons Wilder and Hart with his whole heart, and they brought him immeasurable joy. He will be missed in a way that words can barely hold.
