KUCY, Emil “Ziggy” Kucy

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Emil ‘Ziggy’ Kucy, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, at Westhills Care Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario, at the age of 97.

Emil was a devoted and loving husband to Velma Kucy (Alward), and a cherished father to Roger Kucy (Myriam Quattrini), Rodney Kucy, and Janice Coleman (née Kucy). He found great joy in time spent with his grandchildren: Blake Kucy (Danielle), Kirstin Kucy, Ashley Kucy-Guay (Jeromy), Ryan (Maria), Andrew, Jessica, Amanda Quattrini; and his great-grandchildren: Matti and Kinsley Guay, PJ, Elora, Gabrielle, and Ari Quattrini.

Emil was a kind soul, beloved by all who knew him. He retired from The Welland Tubes (Stelco) after 35 years of service and was deeply passionate about music, performing in many orchestras across the Niagara region.

As per his wishes, there will be no public funeral. The family will celebrate his life privately. Donations in his name may be made to Community Living Welland/Pelham or The Niagara SPCA.
