Nelly Kuipers

It is with a great sense of loss that our family announces the passing of our mother, Nelly Kuipers;  much loved mother, Oma, great-Oma, and great-great-Oma.

She will be deeply missed by her family, Janet Seymour, Wilma (predeceased) and John (Mary) VanGinhoven, Sandra Burghgraef – Burbine (predeceased by James Burghgraef and Robert Burbine), Jim and Kim Kuipers, Eleanor and Ken Wielemaker, Ronald and Diana Kuipers, John (predeceased) and Joanne Kuipers, Jennifer and Roger Vanderkooi.

Mom was born in Sassenheim, the Netherlands, on October 11, 1931. Following World War 2, her family moved to Canada in the Prince Edward County area. Mom married our Dad, John Kuipers on October 1, 1950 during an evening church service. Our family eventually moved to the Bowmanville area, and then later to the Port Perry area.

Nelly’s life was focused on motherhood for her eight children and being an Oma to her 31 grandchildren and their spouses, 59 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Mom’s life was filled with much love, joy, laughter and family get-togethers, as well as hard times and sorrows.  Now she is thankfully in God’s care and can rest easy.

A funeral service will be held at the Hope Christian Reformed Church, 14480 Old Simcoe Road, Port Perry on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 12:00pm with visitation beginning at 11:00am. Immediately following the service, Nelly will be laid to rest at the Prince Albert Pine Grove Cemetery. The family invites everyone back to the church for a luncheon after the burial.
