LECKIE, Audrey Gladys Leckie
March 10, 1930 - June 5, 2026With deep sadness, the family of Audrey Gladys Leckie announces her peaceful passing on Friday, June 5, 2026 at the young age of 96. After her 30+ years of employment with National Cash Register in Toronto, Audrey and her husband Reg retired in the mid 1980’s, to their cottage on Lake Simcoe near Beaverton, later moving to Colyer St. Audrey became an avid golfer, proud of her hole in one at the Beaverton Golf Course, where she enjoyed the company of many friends including her best friend and golf buddy Jo Anne Stewart. Her and Reg loved playing euchre and cribbage at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 135, until Reg’s passing in 2002. She also loved to read and enjoyed spending time in her garden, and over the years, she deeply loved her dogs, especially her golf cart companion Molly. She never quite recovered from Molly’s passing in 2024. Audrey was fiercely independent, living in her own home and driving her car right up until her passing. Over the years, Audrey made many lifelong friendships and she is remembered for her quick wit and fresh sense of humour, and her strong will (she was never one to be shy at offering her opinion). She will be greatly missed by her daughter Brenda Jamieson (Ross) and was predeceased by her daughter Lynn Leckie (Reg). Audrey was much loved by her grandchildren Lori, Kim (predeceased), Kevin, John, Neil, Chad and Jason, and her many great grandchildren and her great great grandson, as well as her nieces and nephews. Also missing her are friends and neighbours Bob, Linda and Brad Forsythe and Marion Dubenow. Cremation has taken place. There will be a drop in get together for Audrey’s family and friends on Saturday July 11, 2026 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at 204 Willow Dr., Keswick, Ont.Brenda and Ross’s home in Wynhurst Gardens (nearest intersection Biscayne Blvd. and The Queensway S.). A huge thank you to the doctors and nurses on the 5th floor of Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Donations in Audrey’s memory to your favourite charity would be greatly appreciated by her family.
