Leyser, Peter (Manfred Ernst) passed away at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on July 22, 2025 following a brief illness. He was 85. Beloved husband of the late Erna (2011) and loving father of Peter Jr. Step-grandfather to Matt Ratelle. Brother-in-law to Ecki Appel, Uncle to Karen Clasadonte, Cousins in Germany.

Born in Berlin, Germany on March 16, 1940, Peter experienced the turmoil of World War II as a young child. As a teenager, traveling by bike and train to all parts of Europe was his passion. In 1965, he came to Canada on a trip and later decided to stay when he met Erna, who was the love of his life. Fatherhood came in 1970. He and his wife provided the most supportive home possible, and Peter worked at Dofasco as a steel worker until retirement in 2000.

More free time allowed a renewed interest in cycling, which he shared with his son. Erna’s passing in 2011 was challenging, but her role as a caregiver during her Alzheimer’s journey showed her strength of character and love. Peter was a long time attendant of Calvary Gospel Church (Beamsville). A two-time cancer survivor, Peter enjoyed cycling until just a few years ago, and was able to live life on his terms.

Visitation will be at Tallman Funeral Home, 3277 King Street, Vineland, on Wednesday, July 30 from 6–8 pm. The funeral is on Thursday, July 31 at 11 am at the same location. Casual attire is suggested, as this was Peter’s preference. If desired, memorial donations to Calvary Gospel Church or Rankin Cancer Run would be appreciated.
