LONGMIRE, Lorne Bruce Longmire
May 25, 1962 - June 2, 2026It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Bruce Longmire, aged 64, of Stoney Lake, Ontario, on June 2, 2026, following a short but intense battle with cancer.
Lorne Bruce Longmire is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife and best friend of 40 years, Dawn, and by his children: Carli (Evan), Taylor (Myles), Darryl (Sara), and Evan (Kyra). He was a proud and deeply loved Papa to Kay and Ivy, with another grandchild on the way.
He is survived by his sister Karen and sister-in-law Diane and will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Nicole, Danny, Brian, and Sara. Lorne was predeceased by his brothers, Dave and infant brother Brian, and by his parents, Ray and Alice.
Lorne was a devoted family man, a hardworking provider, and a loyal friend whose warm smile and easygoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He lived life with enthusiasm and made the most of every moment. He loved spending time on the water boating on Stoney Lake, enjoyed golfing, playing hockey, shooting pool, and watching his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and looked forward to travelling and going on cruises with those he loved. Music was always an important part of his life, and there was rarely a time when a favourite song wasn’t playing nearby.
Above all else, Lorne cherished his family. He took immense pride in his children and grandchildren and found his greatest joy in being Papa. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or simply spending time together, he created memories that will be treasured forever. Through life’s challenges, he remained steadfast in his love and commitment to those closest to him. His kindness, strength, humour, and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Though his battle was brief, his impact was immeasurable. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he treasured, and the memories that will be carried forward by all who knew him. He would want us to spread joy wherever we go.
Donations may be made to “Hospice Peterborough” or “Their Opportunity”, a children’s charity, in his memory.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near”
