July 24, 2025

Smiling woman in blue dress with short blonde hair

Peacefully on July 24, 2025, at the age of 86, with loving family by her side. Dearest wife of David for 66 years. Much loved mother of Ken and wife Jan, Jim and wife Lori, Cindy Rasmussen and husband Chris, Don and wife Kathy. Cherished grandmother of Jessy (Jessica), Brittany (Ben), Ashley Dupuis (Kyle), Courtney Holman (Lennie), Kylee, Ryan Peck, Julia Peck (Brian), Matthew, Emily, and great-grandma of Brodie, Carter, Hunter, Lyla and Sutton.

Predeceased by her parents Josif and Magdalena Abt, and her siblings Helen (Robert) and Sebastian (survived by Lori).

Katharina was an avid gardener, and she enjoyed painting and crafts. She was a very social lady, and looked forward to getting together with her lunch group to play the “golf” card game. Cooking was always important to her, and she loved being together with her family, hosting them for dinner.

Special thanks to the staff at Seasons LaSalle and Extendicare Southwood Lakes for their love, care and compassion.

If you so desire, donations to Alzheimer’s Society of Windsor/Es would be appreciated by the family. Cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 10:00 am until time of a Celebration of Katharina’s Life at 12:00 pm at Families First, South Windsor, 3260 Dougall Ave. (519-969-5841).
