MANIERI, Francesco Manieri

Francesco Manieri, known fondly by many since birth as Mario, passed away peacefully at 5:30 am on December 18, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Palazzo San Gervasio, Italy, he was given the name Mario by those in his hometown to honor the memory of his eldest sister, Maria, who passed away shortly before his birth. He and his wife, Angela, immigrated to Canada as a young couple with little more than a relentless work ethic and a vision for the future. He eventually settled in Barrie, where he founded his own construction company and built a reputation for integrity, grit, and “old school” craftsmanship.

Mario was a man of the earth who found his greatest joy in the simple things: a well-tended garden, days spent fishing on the water, and the company of his family. He believed there was no substitute for hard work and lived his life with a deep sense of independence and devotion to those he loved. His charm, his strength, and his presence will be profoundly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Angela; his children, Lucy (Costa), Elaine (Mike), Mike (Judy), and Frank; his grandchildren, Andréa (Melissa), Alex (Sarah), Quinton, Nicholas (Teryn), Austin, Jeremy, Samantha, and Beckett; and his great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Porter, and Isabella.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Sunday, December 21st, 2025 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place the following day on Monday, December 22nd, 2025 at the St. John Vianney Parish, 13 Baldwin Ln., Barrie at 10 am. Reception will take place inside the Church Hall following the Funeral Mass. In keeping with Mario’s wishes, cremation will take place.
