MARTINELLO , Vincent Joseph Martinello
June 27, 1945 - August 18, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vincent “Vinny/Vince” Martinello, who passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 18th, 2025, at the age of 80.
Vince was the beloved husband of Nancy (Heugh) for 56 years. Loving father of Mike (Leigh-Anne), Jenny (Andrew), and Nan (Dave). Cherished Papa of Daniel, Marcus, Mirabella, Mila, Sophia, and Giulia — each one held a special place in his heart.
He was a dear brother to Frank (Terri) Martinello, and is lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends across Canada and in Boston, Massachusetts. He shared a close bond with his loving Zia Maria and will be missed by his long-time coffee buddy, Gil. Vince is also survived by his estranged brother, Alex.
Born in Mirabella Eclano, Italy, Vince immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario in 1951 with his mother and brother to join his father, who had come ahead to build a new life. Vince dedicated over 40 years to Dominion Glass/Consumers Glass and was well known for his incredible ability to fix anything.
A passionate fisherman, Vince loved his time at Sandboy Marina aboard his boat “SumCents”, and enjoyed extended stays in Seminole, Florida at Journey’s End. He faced a lifetime of medical challenges with grace and determination, undergoing three open-heart surgeries over the decades and bravely battling prostate cancer in his final years.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many doctors and care providers who supported Vince’s journey, especially Dr. Mulgi, Dr. Clive Davis, Dr. Pai, Maria, Dr. Haidari, and all the teams at Hamilton General and Toronto General Hospitals.
Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave., Hamilton, on Sunday, August 24th from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–9:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene’s Roman Catholic Church, 232 Queenston Rd., Hamilton, on Monday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hamilton Hyperbaric Medicine Department.
To Vince, my forever love — your will to live through all you endured was nothing short of extraordinary. I will miss you every single day for the rest of my life.
Nancy.
VIN NAN FOREVER.
