Genny Eve Mathews

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Genny Mathews on May 4, 2025, at the age of 79 years old. A woman of remarkable strength and unwavering independence, she leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and a deep appreciation for the beauty around her.
Born on February 7, 1946, Genny Mathews embraced life with an insatiable curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Admarie Mathews and Lesley-Ann McPherson, and her son, Garry Mathews. Her love extended to her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
Genny’s spirit shone brightly in her passions. Her garden was a sanctuary, a testament to her nurturing touch and artistic eye, especially her cherished black rocks that she lovingly painted. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and her devotion to her church community was unwavering. Always eager to learn and grow, she continuously sought knowledge and embraced opportunities for education. Above all, her love for her God was the guiding force in her life.

The visitation will be taking place on Friday May 30th, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by a 12:00 p.m. service at Mount Lawn Funeral Home. Following the service there will be an entombment at Mount Lawn Cemetery and a reception afterwards.

Her strength, independence, love, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she sleep in peace.
