MCCARTHY, James Anthony McCarthy

He of Oshawa, Ontario, passed away on May 29, 2026, at the age of 95. James lived a long life marked by steadfast devotion to family and a quiet strength that will be remembered with deep respect.

James Anthony McCarthy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pauline, and by his daughters: Jo-Anne Pierson and Sheila Hood. He is lovingly remembered by his children Leo McCarthy (Cheryl), Jean Rines (Elwood), Doug McCarthy, Susan Dowling (Doug), Cathy Huntington (Allan), and Linda Warman (Ken). Dearly remembered by his sons-in-law Scott Pierson and Al Hood. James also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each carrying forward the legacy of care, commitment, and family pride that shaped his life.

Visitation will be at the Oshawa Funeral Home on Friday June 5 from 9:30 – 10:30 am.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 1100 Mary St. N. Oshawa at 11 am.

Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Humane Society or the Hospital For Sick Children would be appreciated.
