MCCUTCHEON, Maribelle McCutcheon

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Maribelle McCutcheon at Grey Gables on Monday, May 4, 2026, in her 91st year.

The eldest of four children, Maribelle was born on the family farm in Woodford, Ontario. She later met the love of her life, Alvin John McCutcheon, and together they built a life on their farm on the Irish Block in Sydenham Township, where they spent 40 years raising their five children, four boys and one girl. Alvin predeceased her in April 2004.

Maribelle was fortunate to find love a second time and married Blythe Hamill in July 2010. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home in Owen Sound, filled with laughter and the joy of hosting many cherished celebrations with the Hamill and McCutcheon families.

Maribelle was a gifted pianist, an avid gardener, and an exceptional baker, best known for her homemade pies. She also had a passion for sports, especially the Owen Sound Attack hockey team.

Maribelle is survived by her siblings, Rosalie Murray (late Bev), Alan Shields (Chris), and Linda Lush (Ron). She was the beloved mother of Doug McCutcheon (Louise), late Paul McCutcheon, Bruce McCutcheon (Becky), Rob McCutcheon (Robyn), and Sheila Holder (Steven). She was a deeply loved grandmother to Barrett, Jesse, Brodie (Brittany), April (Morgan), Jared (Lori), Jade (Anthony), Justin (Michaela), Josh (Meagan), and Quinton (Leah), and a proud and loving great grandmother. Maribelle was a cherished sister-in-law to the late Russell McCutcheon (Helen Woodhouse) and Margaret Tirpkoff (John). Maribelle will also be lovingly remembered by the Hamill family, especially Blythe’s daughters, Sue Cook and Terry Danielczak (Kevin), along with their children and grandchildren. Maribelle will also be missed by her nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and great grandchildren, and friends.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Grey Gables for their loving and compassionate care and support.

Please join us for a visitation from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2026, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492. For those not able to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed. A private interment will take place in Annan at a later date.
