MCEACHINE, Laura Anne McEachnie

Laura is survived by her devoted husband Mokless Hassan and by her beloved children Layth and Zayneb.  She is also survived by her loving mother Suzanne McEachnie, her sister Alison and brother-in-law Les McKean and her nephews Jack and Quentin.  She was predeceased by her father Rod McEachnie in 2020.  Laura will be missed by her by many family members in Ontario and Nova Scotia and by Mokless’s family in Iraq.

Laura had a passion for helping people.  She was a valued Social Worker at Keystone Child and Family Services for 16 years.  Laura, Mokless, Layth and Zayneb had recently returned home from several months of international travel.  They visited Mokless’s family in Iraq, travelled with friends in India, toured in Iran and Indonesia.  Laura made lasting friendships wherever she went.  Laura will be forever remembered as a source of joy, compassion and optimism.  Laura lived the fullest of lives with laughter.  Her love was far reaching.

Laura loved being in nature.  She treasured cottage time with family for many summers.  The Bruce Peninsula was a special place where she swam, hiked, played and watched shooting stars around the campfire.

Laura’s funeral service was held September 3rd, 2025 at the Owen Sound Muslim Association.  She is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Owen Sound.  As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Layth and Zayneb’s education would be appreciated by the family and can be made at https://gofund.me/ee122ada8
