MCLINDEN, David Edward McLinden
August 28, 1949 - June 5, 2026
It is with profound sadness and hearts full of love that the family of David Edward McLinden announces his passing. David was the beloved husband of Susan McLinden, and the devoted father of Catherine, Angela, and Paul.
David was a man of quiet strength and boundless warmth, loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He moved through life with a gentle, unhurried grace, quick with a dry wit, unassuming to his core, and never seeking recognition or fuss. He held no judgement in his heart and had a rare and beautiful gift for making every person he met feel fully accepted, exactly as they were.
When he wasn’t on the golf course, or watching hockey, after playing for decades with friends well into his later years, David could be found tending to his lawn, playing with his dogs, or simply enjoying time with one of his grandchildren, which, for him, was time at its very best.
David was a devoted husband to Susan for 53 years, a commitment he honoured with quiet and steadfast love. He never took her, or anyone he loved, for granted. He carried a deep and genuine gratitude for everyone in his life and made sure they knew it. He was a man who wanted for nothing, because he said often, with complete clarity and contentment, that the love of his family was the greatest wealth a person could ever hold.
He leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren Ella, Clayton, Hena, Abby, Norah, Veronica, and Ben, each of whom brought him a sincere and uncomplicated joy. He is also survived by his beloved siblings Pat, Mike, Sharon (deceased), Margo, Mary, Nancy, Louise, Jane (deceased) Martha, and Stephen who shared a lifetime of memories with him.
He was dearly loved too by his faithful companions, Kaleb and Oliver, who brought him no small measure of daily happiness.
David was, simply, the kindest and most wonderful man.
He will be missed every single day.
