
Anne passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Retirement Lodge in Alliston, Ontario, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 82. Born in Trètès, Indonesia during Japanese occupation, Anne lived through a remarkable journey across countries and continents, rich with love, courage, and purpose.
A beloved wife to the late Jan (John), with whom she shared 53 years of marriage, Anne was known for her intelligence, strength, and unwavering independence. After completing her education and earning a nursing license in the Netherlands, she returned to Curaçao before eventually settling in Canada in 1969 with Jan, embracing the spirit of adventure that defined her life.
Anne’s brother shares heartfelt reflections on her life—from their childhood in war-torn Indonesia, to joyful moments spent at the Good Samaritan home where she was cared for deeply and loved by friends, staff, and neighbors. Her resilience and grace left lasting impressions on all who knew her.
