Melvin Albertus “Mel” Metcalf
1944 – 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melvin Albertus “Mel” Metcalf, who passed away peacefully with family by his side at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the age of 81.
Beloved husband of Sylvia Metcalf, Mel was a loving father to Pamela Saranpaa (Martin), Sherri Seibel (Derek), Staci Roemer (Mark), and his bonus daughter Shanna Currie. Cherished grandfather of Aili (Jordan), Ate, Eva, Ellie, Joey, and Max. He will also be missed by his many cousins and extended family.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 33 Shirley Ave., Barrie, on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Mel’s memory to Hospice Simcoe, Barrie, or to the RVH Hudson Regional Cancer Centre in Barrie. Donations may be made through the Coldwater Funeral Home.
