MOSS, Sylvia Marguerite Moss

Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 10, 2026. Born in Toronto, Ontario on April 24, 1927, Sylvia Marguerite Moss was in her 99th year.

Predeceased by parents, Cyril Albert Moss and Agnes Marian (nee Kennard), guardian Frances Palmer Prichard, step-mother Frances Astley (need McDougal), and brothers Lloyd Cyril, Eric Dean, and Earle Roderick.

Leaves in grief beloved partner Frances Cornett, son David Moss-Cornett (Brittany Knight), grandsons: Charlie Damianov and Elliott Damianov, nieces Catherin Moss-Balain, Charmaine Lang, Joy Li-Yim (Ken), and many dear friends.

Sylvia’s favourite indoor sports included reading British mysteries, meeting the challenges of the Globe and Mail crosswords, trying to rescue every distressed human being or animal she met, or defending the long glories of the Anglican Book of Common Prayer and the vagaries of the English language.

She often ended her telephone conversations with “Big hug. Gone now.” And so today she is saying to those who mourn and those who don’t “Big hug. Gone now. God bless.”

Memorial visitation will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 516 Mill St, Port Elgin ON on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, 10 – 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service to celebrate Sylvia’s life at 11 am, followed by a reception in the church hall..
