Holmes, Margaret Nancy “Peggy” (née Gray) — Peggy Holmes of Winchester passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the age of 90.

Beloved wife of the late Murray Holmes. Loving mother of Stephen Holmes, Nancy (the late Roger) Fawcett, David (Karen) Holmes, Thomas Holmes (Nancy Ace), Mary Jane (Terry) Larose, Jo-Anne (Ricky) Grisel, Vicki Holmes and Clarence (Kelly) Holmes.

Cherished grandmother of Carrie, Christie, and Julie Fawcett; Mindy, Tiffany (Colman), Matthew (Jessica) Holmes; Alyson (Jeff) Pinto and Courtney Larose; Nathan and Evan (Robin) Grisel; Murray and Minnie Holmes. Proud great-grandmother of Kaitlyn and Ryan; Gwen and Theo; Dane and Declan.

Predeceased by her siblings Marjorie Munro, Muriel Merkley, Malcolm Gray, Lois Dillabough, Edna Barkley and Robert Gray. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and the extended Holmes family.

A private family interment will take place at Maple Ridge Cemetery. A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 167 Queen Street, Chesterville.

The family expresses deep gratitude to her home care team — Margaret, Ashley, Marsha, Dorothy — and Dr. Bart Steele, as well as the palliative care team at WDMH for their compassion and support.

Donations in memory of Peggy may be made to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation – The New Dundas Manor.
