NESBITT, Margaret “Maggie-May” Nesbitt

It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Nesbitt (“Maggie-May”) (née Fryer) announce her sudden passing on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the age of 93. Margaret passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family.

A cherished mother, nana, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend, Margaret will forever be remembered by her three daughters, Pat Rispolie (Doug), Cheryl Hickman (Scott), and Sue Sidsworth (Bill); and her four grandchildren, Jen Johnston, Matthew Sidsworth, Sarah Mueller, and Christopher Hickman.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, James Nesbitt, and will be laid to rest beside him following a private family service on May 17, 2025.

Margaret was a woman of strength, resilience, and boundless kindness. She bravely overcame cancer and faced health challenges in recent years with unwavering grace. Margaret loved to laugh, celebrate holidays, and she would never turn down a little extra dessert. She was funny—often unintentionally—and believed in the importance of being colourful, no matter the occasion.

Margaret loved her family fiercely and held a special affection for her grand-dogs, Gracie, Ellie, and Tucker. A passionate reader, a spirited traveler, and a lover of all things sweet, she considered her greatest accomplishments to be her beloved daughters and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Margaret’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Durham Region.

Miss me a little, but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery.
