Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 26, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on May 19, 1937, to the late Kathleen & Murray “Mac” McAllister, Myrtle was always caring, warm and a comfort to those around her. An avid reader from a young age, Myrtle believed in education, and later she taught at a college for computer sciences. A career that suited her detailed mind.
She was a loving mom and grandma to her sons and daughter-in-law, John (Lorna) and Wayne, and her grandchildren Natasha (Matt) and Sean. She also leaves behind her sister Margie. She now goes to join her beloved husband, Maurice O’Connor (d. 2025), who passed before her.
Myrtle will be deeply missed for the humour and lightness she brought to the crib table and on Sunday mornings at her church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of BC.
A Memorial Service will be held to honour Myrtle on SATURDAY, MAY 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM (PST), located at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. A reception will be held following the service, with the address provided at the service. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view in 3-5 days.
