OLDRIEVE, Norman Albert William Oldrieve

Passed away peacefully at Lee Manor on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Born in Arran Township on Friday, August 12, 1938, Norman Albert William Oldrieve of Owen Sound, was in his 87th year.

Beloved husband and best friend of Elda Oldrieve (née Stewart) for 65 years. Proud father of Grant (Jacquie), Greg (Rosanne), Benny, Jamie (Lori), and Vicki. Cherished Papa of Garrett, Travis (Jordan), Tyler (Cassandra), Meaghan (Mike), Ryan (Katie), Nick (Kaela), Paige (Brandon), Micah, Senya, Mackenzie, Trinity, and of 11 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Marjorie Pelletier, and brother-in-law of Jacques. Norman will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Albert and Marie Oldrieve.

A loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. We know he is resting and rejoicing in the arms of his saviour. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and if you knew him, you know he was an example of faith for us all. “Jesus answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind’” – Matthew 22:37

Norman began working at RBW (Transcontinental Printing) at the age of 16, initially selling sandwiches. He soon earned a full-time position and remained there until his retirement at age 50 after 34 years of service.

In retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his beloved Elda to both coasts of Canada, Hawaii, and Myrtle Beach, where they spent a month each visit. He loved the outdoors, sunshine, long walks, and swimming. Above all, he deeply cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who will carry forward memories of their special Papa moments.

Norman’s family extends heartfelt thanks to Phyllis Lovell and the nursing team at Lee Manor 3 South for their care and compassion.

In keeping with Norman’s wishes, a graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara, will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to World Vision Canada would be appreciated. Online condolences may be shared at Wood Funeral Home.
