May 14, 1932 - March 31, 2026Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday March 31, 2026 in his 94th year.
Beloved husband of Demetra for 48 years. Predeceased by his first wife Aspasia.
Loving father of Gus, Sofia (Luis), Jim (Melissa), Bobby (Christina) and Stavros (Marina). Extremely proud Papou of Christos, Daphne, Philippa, Aristotele and Zoë-Anastasia. Survived by his brother Sotiris (Giota). Also predeceased by sisters Vassiliki Koumarelas and Eftihia Karvouniaris.
Christos Panagopoulos will be fondly remembered by all. His kindness and love for family and friends were second to none. Christos enjoyed his yearly trips to Levidi, his village in Greece and hunting with his buddies, but most of all being surrounded by all of his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was a proud farmer and master carpenter. He held the Greek community of Smithville near and dear to his heart and always viewed the whole community as family. Christos will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation to take place at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Thursday, April 2 from 5:00 p.m-8:00 p.m. Vigil prayers to take place at 7:00 p.m. The Thryce Holy Hymn/Funeral Service will be celebrated at St. Katharine Greek Orthodox Church, 585 Niagara Street, St. Catharines on Friday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Smithville United Church Cemetery, 116 West Street (Regional Rd 20), Smithville. Please join us for the Makaria luncheon in honour of Christos at Agios Haralampos – Greek Community Centre at 1:00pm following the services.
