In Loving Memory
Elsie Pankratz (nee Rempel) passed away on July 28th at the age of 86, following a long and full life marked by love, faith, and quiet strength.
Elsie was deeply devoted to her family and to her Mennonite faith, which shaped her values and guided her throughout her life. She was spirited, thoughtful, and steady – someone who could be counted on for both support and perspective.
She shared a long and loving marriage with her husband Nick, building a life rooted in partnership and mutual respect. Together, they raised two sons, Alex and Mark, whom Elsie loved and supported unconditionally. She welcomed their wives, Jennifer and Julie, into the family with warmth and kindness.
Elsie was the proud grandmother of Jack, Lauren and Henry; she took joy in their lives and was always there to encourage and celebrate them.
Elsie’s connection to her siblings remained an important and constant part of her life, and she is survived by Alice Schira (late John), Louisa Martens (late David) and Irene Dell (Robert). She is reunited in peace with her sister, Agatha Devine (late Albert “Red”) as well as her dearest friend, Dorothy Sykes.
Elsie’s faith, loyalty, and quiet resilience left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She will be remembered with love and gratitude by her family, her friends, and her community.
A private family interment will be followed by a celebration of Elsie’s life at 11am on Tuesday, August 5th, at Tallman Funeral Homes (3277 King St, Vineland). The family will host a reception and light lunch afterwards in the Fireside Room.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mennonite Central Committee – an organization that reflects Elsie’s values of service, compassion, and community.
