In loving memory of Stephanie Lynn Peltier, traditionally known as Niwijiwaakikwe of the Waawaashkesh Ndodem, who began her journey to the spirit world on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Ottawa, Ontario, surrounded by loved ones.
Stephanie was a proud Anishinaabe Kwe—an embodiment of strength, love, humility, and cultural wisdom. She lived by ancestral teachings and radiated kindness, integrity, and warmth. Her presence uplifted everyone she met, offering healing, laughter, and unconditional love.
Her legacy as a mother, partner, and community member was profound. She leaves behind her daughters Naomi, Autumn, and Ciara, and joins her son Nimkiiode Ryder-ba (predeceased) in the spirit world. She is lovingly remembered by her partner Lee Cote (and daughters Amber and Emmi), father Stanley, and her brothers Kirk (children Ashton, Dawson, April, Julianne), Douglas, and Vincent. Many nieces, nephews, and community members also called her “mom.”
A gifted artisan, Stephanie’s beadwork and regalia—taught by her mother Marita-ba and Aunt Teresa’iba—are worn with pride across Turtle Island at Pow Wows, ceremonies, and gatherings. Her memory continues in each stitch, each dance, and each act of care.
