Passed away peacefully at Marigold Hospice on August 1, 2026, at the age of 79. Born in Ottawa, Ontario on March 25, 1947, he was the son of the late John and Marion Perry and brother to Susan Woodhead (Ken).

Robert retired after a long career with Ontario Hydro (OPG) after earning his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University. He was known throughout his life as a hardworking, devoted, and a well-thought-out man, someone who approached both his work and his personal life with care and integrity. His intelligence was matched by a sharp sarcastic humour that those close to him knew well and appreciated.

Robert shared his life with his wife of 56 years Cheryl, and was a proud father to Carolyn (Mike) and Kevin (Melissa). Affectionately known as “Bobba” to his grandchildren Caden, Anderson, Ryan, Nathan, Callum, and Sarah. Adoringly “Bob” to his extended family and close friends who will miss him dearly.

Robert grew up in Ottawa, Ontario. Fond memories of his childhood included playing hockey, baseball, sailing, participating in school band trips, running cross country and the Junior Forest Rangers of Ontario program. Later in life he found new loves of skiing, golfing, gardening, and model trains which he enjoyed sharing with his children and grandchildren alike. In retirement he could be found touring small town Ontario on his motorcycle or spending countless hours researching and planning many vacations taking him and Cheryl all over North America and Great Britain. All while fitting a “bargain cruise” in here and there. Robert had a love of music from the classical works to classic rock and he was known every once in a while to breakout his guitar and harmonica to belt out a little Gordon Lightfoot or dance around the kitchen to AC/DC blasting from the stereo.

As per Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will be holding a private gathering.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Robert’s honour to the Hospital for Sick Children or Clarington Food Bank.
