Entered Heaven’s gates to her waiting Saviour’s arms, peacefully at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood on Sunday, April 26, 2026 in her 92nd year.
Ruth Gertrude Ellen Pifer of Collingwood, was the beloved wife of the late Harold Pifer. Loving mother of Lillian (Darren), Fred (Peggy) and the late John. Cherished grandmother of Grace, Alicia, Katherine (Colin), Kendra, Zachary and Jason. Treasured great-grandmother of Madison, Marissa, Olivia and Jack. Lovingly remembered by her extended family and friends.
Mom grew up in Collingwood and spent most of her life here other than a few years spent living in Sunnidale after marrying our father in 1959. Her career included working at Woolworths, Georgian China, and Ditsons Bakery. Later in life Mom sold Avon. Mom’s faith was always centre in her life, and she was a member of Stayner First Baptist Church for over 50 years. A sincere thank you for the outpouring of compassion and care Mom received in her final days.
Friends are invited to join the family at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel for visitation on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 205 Oak Street, Stayner on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11 o’clock with visitation one hour prior. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment Westmount Baptist Cemetery, Collingwood. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruth to First Baptist Church, Stayner would be appreciated by the family.
