RAJABALLEY, Seenaraine Jim Rajaballey

We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved Seenaraine Rajaballey (Jim) passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children.

Jim will be greatly missed by Rookminnee, his treasured wife and partner of 62 years. His eyes always looked for her and he was only truly happy when she was near.

Jim was adored by his children: Jenny, Juliana (James), and Ralph (Danielle), and his grandchildren:  Aleysha (Stephen), Amanda (Alex), James, Jordan (Hailey), Jasmine (Cat), Joshua, and Justine.  He was grateful to have met his great-grandson, Jude.  He is also mourned by his sister and many nieces, nephews and those he considered family and friends.

Born and baptized in Rosehall, Guyana, Jim spent his young life working in fields, at a tailor shop and in a bakery. Through correspondence and ongoing training, he excelled as a machinist at Albion Sugar Estate.

Jim immigrated to Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada, in April 1971, to provide a better life for his children and to meet the demand for skilled tradesmen.  He worked at the Rubber Machine Shop at Uniroyal until his retirement at 62. He was creative, a hard worker and a perfectionist.  He always did his best and was a role model for his co-workers in Guyana and Canada, as well as for his family.

Jim was a warrior, overcoming challenging circumstances in his youth, navigating a new country, and enduring many health problems, with little complaint, quiet perseverance and determination.  He found strength in his family and his faith.

Jim was a true renaissance man.  He enjoyed Bollywood movies and music, especially the old ones he paid 10 cents for a ticket to see, at the Apollo in Rosehall.  He enjoyed live theatre of all kinds, all over the world.  He loved to travel, especially seeing the world from the balcony of a cruise ship and visiting India and England.  He was an avid sportsman and liked watching boxing, the Olympics, and horse racing. He played golf in retirement, but cricket was by far his favourite.  He certainly had good innings.

Jim could wear a work uniform, vacation gear, and a suit with equal parts confidence and style.  Known for his fedoras, matching scarves, coats and shoes, he strived to present his best to the world as a gentleman.

Jim set the standard for his children and grandchildren with his work ethic, strength, grace, and dignity.  He always prioritized his family who knew that they could trust and depend on him. A man of few words, his actions boldly professed his Love.

We will miss him dearly every day, but we will carry his legacy with pride. “May flights of Angels sing him to his rest.”
