REBOT, Mr. Walter Rebot

April 21, 1946 - May 14, 2026
REBOT, Mr. Walter Rebot

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Rebot, loving and devoted husband of 60 years to Sharon (May).

Loving father of Karen (Mike Rivers), Christa (Dave Gunn), and Stephanie (Stephen Tarling). Doting grandfather of Ally and Zach Rivers, Gavin and Dawson Gunn, and Duncan and Griffin Tarling. Loving brother of Romana Owens (d. Garry) and Dr. Morris Rebot (d. Lidia), and brother-in-law to Sandi & Ken McDonald and Guy & Stephanie May.

Predeceased by his mother Roza Czyz, father Stanley Rebot, stepfather Joe Czyz and brother John Rebot.

Very dearly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Walter loved cars, especially classic cars, and his 1967 marina blue Camaro convertible was his greatest car love of all. He spent a few hours most summer nights at cruise-ins, loving every minute hanging with his “car guys & girls”, many of whom kept in touch during the last two months of his long illness. He loved their chats, but missed seeing them in person at the regular meet-ups. He also showed up for Friday night cards with his longtime GUMA friends for as long as he was able.

Walt was a retired GM supervisor, an inventor, a restaurateur and a deep thinker. He loved flying his microlight airplanes out of his backyard. He was the founder of Durham Obituaries which he ran for 30 years.

And he could build and fix almost anything!

But above all, he loved his family fiercely — and we sure did love him back.
