RETTINGER , Ronald “Fuzzy” Gereld Rettinger

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Ronald Gereld Rettinger, fondly known as Fuzzy, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Hamilton General Hospital, at the age of 70.
Born in Kitchener, Ontario, on September 1, 1954, Ron was the beloved son of the late John Michael and Marjorie Veronica (Lippert) Rettinger. A long-time resident of New Hamburg, Ontario, Ron was known for his big smile, kind heart, and generous spirit. He was always willing to lend a hand — often quite literally giving the shirt off his back to help someone in need.

Ron will be deeply missed by his children, Chris Rettinger (Josie Bissonnette) and Erin Connely (Randy), and by his cherished grandchildren, Travis Rettinger and Cassidy Connely, who brought great joy to his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Betty Willfang, Patty Rawn (Leonard), Mike Rettinger (Michelle), Kathy Rettinger-Morrison, Joan Hayes (Dale), Ruth Hayes (Kellvin), Linda Rettinger, as well as by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. He is also fondly remembered by Kathey Rettinger, mother of his children.

Ron spent much of his life on the road as a dedicated transport truck driver. Off the road, he found joy in simple pleasures — fishing, golfing, playing poker and cornhole, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. His big, strong, and kind-hearted presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with words of remembrance at 3:30 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations can be given at the funeral home to the family to cover unexpected expenses, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Mark Preece Family House. Personal condolences can be posted at www.markjutzifuneralhomes.ca

Ron will be remembered for the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the countless miles he travelled — both on the road and in the hearts of those who loved him. “Cheers to beers, in Fuzzy’s years”

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Glendinning Funeral Home.
