Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on January 27, 2026, at Afton Park Place, Douglas John Richardson passed away at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Marlene Richardson (Chapman) for 66 years. Doug was the son of the late Wilbert George & Betty Claire (Thompson) Richardson. Loving father to Terri Richardson (Scott), Stephanie Hutchinson (Craig). Cherished grandfather to Andrew (Kara), Melissa (Cleve), Brianne (Josh) and Jacob. Proud Great Grandfather to Casey. Missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Brother of Glen (Barb) and Larry. Also survived by sisters-in-law Patty Richardson, Lorraine Richardson and Bev Lamarsh. Predeceased by sister Sharon, brothers Bob, Denny, Mike, brother-in-law Lawrence Lamarsh and mother-in-law Alma Hill. After working 41 years at the Glass Factory, Doug enjoyed 27 years of retirement and spending time with family. He will fondly be remembered by all he knew as a kind loving man and cherished his grandchildren. He loved his sports and was a true Toronto Maple Leaf, Sarnia Sting and Blue Jay Fan. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Afton Park Place for their exceptional care, kindness, and support shown to Doug and his family. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with family and friends being received one-hour prior from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. A burial of ashes will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in the spring.
