Roderick Bernard Kellman was born on July 3, 1950, in Barbados. He lived a life shaped by resilience, determination, humour and a strong sense of individuality.
Roderick was a character in every sense of the word. Funny, stubborn, particular and always one to have a story to tell, he had a personality that people wouldn’t easily forget. Storytelling is something that runs in the family, and Roderick certainly carried on that tradition. Whether sharing a memory, making someone laugh or passionately discussing sports, religion, nature, and politics, he always had something to say.
He had a lifelong love of sports, especially soccer, and was an enthusiastic sports fan. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course, dancing and admiring sports cars. He appreciated the finer details in life and took pride in looking neat and keeping things just so. Those who knew him understood that things had to be done a certain way.
Professionally, Roderick worked as a dental technician, building a career and making a life for himself. His early years were not always easy, but he overcame challenges and found success in his own right. His journey was a testament to his resilience.
Above all, Roderick was a father, grandfather, brother and family member whose stories, humour and unmistakable personality will live on in those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his children, Jennifer Kellman and Jason Kellman; his grandchildren, Sierra and Gregory; his brothers, Richard Kellman(Anne)and Harry Kellman (Pinky), and his sisters, Donna Kellman and Marcelle Kellman, along with extended family and friends.
Roderick will be remembered for his laughter, his stories, his love of sports, music, dancing and cars, and, of course, his stubborn streak. He was one of a kind, and there will never be another quite like him.
He passed away following complications from cancer, but his life was about so much more than his final days. His memories, stories and the pieces of himself he passed down through his family will continue to live on.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
