Joan Doreen (Westaway) Russell passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at Port Hope Extendicare on April 17th, 2025, at the age of 93.
Beloved wife of 63 years to the late Cedric Russell, Joan was the cherished mother of the late Terry, Trudy (Roger), Tanya, and the late Todd. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Charity (Rob), Sarah J (the late Shane), Sarah A (Collin), Lee (Mike), and Emeline (Alex). She was also a beloved great-grandmother—“G.G.”—to Hope, Andrew, Cason, and Jack. Joan was predeceased by her two sisters, Joy and Anne.
Joan will be remembered for her loving spirit, her deep devotion to family, and the warmth she extended to all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who carry forward the love and strength she imparted.
In accordance with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Hospital for Sick Children.
