SCOTT, Roderick Thomas Scott

We are saddened to announce the passing of Roderick Thomas Scott (Rod), with his partner by his side, on Wednesday the 6th of May 2026 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, after utilizing his fierce iron will to fight a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the loving partner of Lisa Knell for more than 27 years, stepfather to Hayden and Hollee, and cherished Grampa to Nathaniel. Missed every day by his canine companion Lyla.

Roderick Thomas Scott was born on the 17th of July 1965 to parents Reginald and Evelyn (nee Ryan) in the city of Toronto. He is the middle child of five, with two older brothers Michael and Patrick and younger siblings Marty and Mary-Ann.

He was a heavy equipment operator, and a member of IUOE Local 793, who believed in putting in an honest day of hard work to earn a living. Rod was loyal to his family and friends and very passionate about his beliefs. If you ever needed help Rod would come to your aid, anytime anywhere. A true hands-on guy, he was never afraid of getting dirty and because he was mechanically inclined, he was always tinkering with something or other. He also loved nature and being outdoors.

Those who were lucky enough to get to know Rod would most likely agree that he had a crusty exterior with a sensitive, compassionate center. He will be greatly missed by many including nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, and neighbours.

Rod was not a fan of funerals and as per his wishes no service will be held. There will however be a celebration of his life to take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
