Loving husband to Trudy Shepherd. Loving Father to Michelle, Laurie (Alec), Debbie (Jimmie), Penny(John), Sheri (Jason) and Stacy (Joseph) Loving Grandpa to Jon(Corey), Brandy, Laura(Jeremy), Blaine(Taylor), Sara, Eryn(Nate), Josh(Sylvia), Tyler(Shana), predeceased Alyssa(Corbin) and Caleigh. Great Grandpa to Keirsta, Ty, Dale(Emily), Melissa(Dominic), Wynter, Cole, Audrey, Aksel and who in September became a great great Grandfather to Addison Earl is survived by his brother Brian (Elaine). Pre deceased by his business partner and co-owner of Bowman Construction, Gerhard (Ingeborg) Gottschalk who affectionately called Earl his little brother. Talented master craftsman of carpentry and an innovator. Often quoting “Necessity is the Mother of all invention” He built a large houseboat in the 70s from a pattern in a Popular Mechanics Magazine which he augmented and added a Volvo car engine. The fastest houseboat ever. With it he provided the family with nearly 20 years of joy and epic memories. He lived his life with a quick wit and sense of Humour and a great love for his wife, Six daughters and many grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St E Orillia on Sunday January 4th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
