Ioan left this world on January 4, 2026 at the age of 93, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Winetta Betts (McMullen) and Cecil Betts; and her brother Murray. She is survived by: her husband Elmer Shortt; her children, Kathy (Ted Oldfield), Keith (Cris), Kevin (Jack Bond), Karen MacDougall (Colin) and Kelly (Kevin Brown); her brother Robert; her grandchildren, Geoffrey, Alyssa, Lucas, Matthew, Ryan, Alexandra, Branna, Brogan, Bronis, Padraig, Madison, Cedar and Levi; and her great grandchildren, Louisa, Huron, Leeroy, Cecilia, Ellie and Jasper.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 8th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:50 PM at the Melville United Church (300 St Andrew St W, Fergus, ON N1M2W7). A reception was held on Thursday, January 8th 2026 at 2:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the same location.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to Melville United Church or Monticello United Church would be appreciated by Ioan’s family.
