SROGA, Helen Sroga

March 26, 1940 - July 12, 2026
SROGA, Helen Sroga

She our beloved Babcia, β€˜Helen of Haig’ of Windsor Ontario, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 12th, 2026. Surrounded by Sophie, Tony, Michael, and Samantha, she took her last breath at 3:20 p.m. and moved forward to be with God. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Stanislaw (Stanley) Sroga, Mother to Sophie Jaroszewicz and husband Anthony Jaroszewicz. Grandmother to Michael Jaroszewicz and wife Sonja Llancari, Samantha Miletic and husband Julian Miletic. Great Grandmother to Gemma, Aurora, Sunny, and Henry.

Β Helen Sroga immigrated to Canada from Poland with Stanley in the 1960’s and settled in Sudbury, Ontario. They were sponsored by Stanley’s brother Mieczyslaw Sroga who is now deceased and survived by his wife Maria Sroga. In Sudbury they built strong relationships within the Polish community where Helen worked as a waitress and later in the cafeteria of Sudbury General Hospital. Helen was a member of St. Casimir’s Parish and the Women’s Auxiliary along with Dom Polski. Helen worked tirelessly making a house a home, she loved gardening, picking blueberries, cooking, and making pierogi for numerous functions throughout the years.

In 1997, Helen and Stanley said goodbye to their family and friends in Sudbury to move to Windsor to help care for their grandchildren Michael and Samantha. Babcia and Dziadzia helped us with everything. Babcia cooked our meals and Dziadzia chauffeured our children to and from school and other events. We were together all the time as we were next-door neighbors. As life would have it, Dziadzia passed away too soon. Helen struggled at first but focused on her faith and family. For the next 25 years we did it all together again and she continued to care for us, for her home, her flowers, and every pet that became part of our family. She had a calm demeanor, strong work ethic, and great sense of humor with a touch of quiet class. Five years ago, she began her struggles with Dementia and we stood by her. It was our turn to provide the care and support. She fought valiantly every day until her heart began to fail and, in the end, took her last breath, as we all surrounded her with as much love and support as we could muster. She will forever be missed, but our love for her will remain forever in our hearts and throughout the generations.

Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Arsic and staff, for the exceptional compassion, kindness, and medical care provided throughout her journey. Your unwavering dedication, professionalism and genuine concern brought comfort not only to our loved one but also to our entire family during an incredibly difficult time. We will always be grateful for the dignity, respect, and heartfelt care you showed.
