March 22, 1954 – April 4, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Anita Stein, who peacefully passed away at home in Whitby on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the age of 71.

Anita was the cherished wife of Sheldon Stein for 46 incredible years. She was a caring and dedicated mother to Jennifer Stein, Sarah Stein (Dale Miners), and Adam Stein (Tara Stein), and a proud grandmother to Ethan, Madeline, Charlotte, and Sloane. Anita was also the cherished daughter of the late John “Ray” and Jennie Caden. Throughout her life, she was a dear friend and trusted confidante to Debra Chapman-Weir.

Anita was a fiercely loving woman who always put others first. Family was her greatest treasure, and the love she had for her children was endless. This love expanded to her grandchildren, who brought her even more joy and fulfillment.

As Anita grew older, art became a driving passion that fueled her soul. Her artistic journey enriched her life, and she shared this gift with those around her, leaving a lasting legacy.

A private family service will be held as per Anita’s wishes. However, friends and family are welcome to join us in honouring her life and art on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 2–4 pm at the Women’s Art Association of Canada, 23 Prince Arthur Avenue, Toronto.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. Additionally, we encourage everyone to donate blood or plasma at your nearest donor center in Anita’s memory.

Anita will forever be in our hearts, and her love and legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Mount Lawn Funeral Home.
