STOVER, Ruth Wilhelmine Stover
April 15, 2026
Gracefully passed away with family at her side, on Sunday March 15, 2026, at Extendicare McGarrell Place in London, Ontario. Ruth was born in Milverton 98 years ago, a daughter of the late James and Gertrude Scrimgeour (nee Pauli).
Loving mother of Trudy Gratto (Bob) of London, Tim Stover (Susie Prophet) of Almonte, Perry Stover (Sandra) of Thorndale, and chosen daughter Brenda Pelletier (Ed) of Brampton.
Her 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren will all miss their sweet and funny ‘Nana’. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Barbara Grigat (Wayne Dietrich) and Pauline Scrimgeour, as well as her long-time dear friend, Mona McCaw.
Ruth Wilhelmine Stover was the final remaining sibling of nine Scrimgeour children and always maintained ‘they saved the best for last.’ She is predeceased by her beloved husband Roy Stover, to whom she was married for over 70 years.
Ruth lived a life that was, by any measure, beautiful, joyful, and full of laughter. She was a hairdresser, a seamstress, a painter of international renown (her words), a knitter, a dedicated secretary to an MPP, and a two-time survivor of breast cancer. No matter where she went, Ruth shared her sparkling wit, humour, and charm generously with all.
She leaves behind a close-knit family whose love for her is immeasurable, and whom she always said was the thing she was most proud of.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday April 25, 2026, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 7 Spencer Street, Milverton Ontario.
