Irene Teo of Newcastle, the heart of her family, passed away suddenly into glory on Wednesday morning, July 8, 2026, safe in the arms of Jesus a couple of days before her 71st birthday. Born July 10, 1955 in Seremban, Malaysia to her parents, Koh See Han & Lee Siew Ching (Grace), she was named Koh Bee Choo, the third eldest of eight children.

An intelligent woman, Irene found much success working as an Executive Administrative Assistant translating multiple languages with a Dutch professor at the Agriculture University of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur for 10 years.

Beloved Wife of 40 years to Sian Teo, married October 1986 in Scarborough, moved to Canada in 1987.

Loving mother to Christine (Isaac Tai), Shireen (Robbie MacGregor), and Baby Boy Albert (predeceased), and cherished Grandmother of Janine & Cailene Tai.

Irene was known for her love of Family, Faith, and Flowers!

A faithful Christian and member of Newcastle Fellowship Baptist Church for over 31 yrs, Irene had a quiet determined spirit. She displayed her Faith and Love for Jesus Christ in her home along with her family in Malaysia and Australia.

Irene lovingly tended flowers, with gardens of pastel to vibrant coloured blooms, full-petalled flowers of every kind, a paradise of loveliness and splendour. Irene & Sian were a team of amazing cooks, preparing feasts of delicious Malaysian dishes for family and close friends on birthdays and special occasions.

We are so thankful to God for giving us such a wonderful Wife, Mum, and Grandma! We Miss You! We Love You and look forward to seeing Jesus with you in heaven when He takes us home or comes again!
