THOMPSON, Benjamin Thompson

Benjamin “Benny” Thompson, 82 of Fergus, Ontario passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2025 after battling pulmonary fibrosis.

Benny was born in Notting Hill, London, England on May 13, 1943. He attended Berrymeade School in Acton, London. He worked for most of his life as a truck driver, driving both in England and Canada. His first job in Canada was with CP Express and Transport, where he drove for most of his career.

Benny loved the outdoors. His hobbies were photography, travel, music, fishing, and woodworking. Nothing pleased him more than photographing nature, building birdhouses, or fishing with his grandson, Alex. Benny used his love of music and passion for photography to become a well-known DJ and wedding photographer in Brampton.

Benny was predeceased by his parents Vera Thompson née Anthony (Bimmy), Ben Thompson, Sr. and his younger brother John.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra Thompson; his son Jon Thompson (Kerri) and his daughter Lee Crutchley (Ivan). Grandchildren: Alex; Rachael (Dylan); Jack; Alana (Ryan). Great grandchildren: Cohen and Wesley.

Family in the Netherlands: Joy (Fred) Stok, Daniel (Sjoukje), Nathan (Ilse) and baby Sarah, Andrew (Marieke), and Aaron.

Sister: Jean Bourke, and nephew: Andrew Bourke, of London England. Sister-in-Law: Jean Beamish, of Barrie, Ontario.

Benny had a strong love for all his family. He had the ability to bring joy and laughter to any situation. He had a quick wit and could always tell a joke or two and always had a good story to tell. He was a friend to everyone whether he knew them or not, bringing laughter and happiness to any situation, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
