THORNE, Amanda Kelly Gallagher Thorne
August 19, 1977 - July 19, 2026
Born on August 19, 1977, Amanda lived with curiosity, generosity, humour, and a fierce love for the people and animals fortunate enough to be a part of her life. She was the beloved wife of Chris Thorne, a loving sister to Kristi Banks (Simon) of Australia; proud stepmother to Kiera Robinson (Nick Klingender); kind-hearted daughter-in-law to Peggy and Bill Thorne; and an affable sibling-in-law to Kendra (Andrew), and Andrew (Heather).
Nothing brought Amanda greater joy than celebrating the people she loved. She was an exceptionally proud grandmother (Mackenzie), and aunt (Murphy, Cody, Faith, Trinity, Megan), always eager to share photos and videos of the latest accomplishments, milestones, goofy and everyday moments with unmatched pride. If you were on Amanda’s contact list, chances are you received a message from her celebrating someone else’s success with as much excitement as if it were her own. She was the family’s biggest cheerleader, personal (Amazon) shopper extraordinaire, and curator of important things.
An avid reader and lifelong learner, Amanda was endlessly curious. She was always researching something new and delighted in sharing her latest discoveries – whether it was a remarkable book, a new health trend or beauty hack, a hidden restaurant gem, or an interesting article. She loved conversations that could last for hours. She had style for days.
Amanda believed that life’s best moments were shared around a table. A devoted foodie, she loved discovering new restaurants, enjoying gourmet meals (often prepared by the Thorne clan), and gathering with family and friends. She had a legendary talent for karaoke, fearlessly taking on rap songs (Bust a Move) with confidence, enthusiasm, and impeccable timing – creating memories that will continue to bring joy for years to come. Her fund of knowledge and prowess for the English language made her unbeatable at Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble. Thoughtful to her core, Amanda had an extraordinary gift for choosing the “perfect” present and enjoyed filling the homes of those she loved with treats, quirky tchotchkes, and meaningful little treasures that always seemed impeccably chosen or hand-crafted.
Amanda and Chris shared a special place in their hearts for senior animals, opening their home to aging cats and dogs who needed love, comfort, and a second chance. Their beloved toothless dog, Henry, enjoyed a life that could only be described as spoiled in the very best way – no dog meal was complete without his homemade au jus, lovingly prepared.
Although Amanda travelled extensively, her favourite destination was always The Clusters, where countless hours were spent with friends who had long since become family. There, laughter came easily, conversations never seemed to end, elaborate smoked meat was enjoyed – Amanda felt so much love and support from The Clusters family.
After her university days, Amanda built a career in the wine industry, where she combined her passion for people with her appreciation for the finer things in life. She spent several memorable years working with the Speck Brothers at Henry of Pelham.
Amanda will be remembered for her sharp wit, generous heart, boundless curiosity, and remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, celebrated, and loved. She had an infectious laugh and a way of turning ordinary moments into treasured memories.
A heartfelt thank you to the army of health professionals at the Niagara Health System – especially Drs.
