TORTI, Rita Teresina Torti

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished mother Rita Torti. Β Surrounded by her children, she passed peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital – Met Campus onΒ July 3, 2026, just one month shy of her 90th birthday. Predeceased by her parents Raffaele and Caterina Iosa. Beloved wife of the late Fernando Sr. (2024). Dear and loving mother of Fernando Jr., David (Angela), and Cathy Evanyk (Wendell). Proud Nonna of Ryan Evanyk. Predeceased by her siblings Pineta, Maria, Francesco, Giovanni, Anna, and Elio (survived by sister-in-law Giovanna). Β Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada. Loving sister-in-law to Iole (2024) and Antonio (2013) Pallisco and Adriano and Antonietta Torti.Β Rita Teresina Torti was born in Mestre, Italy and immigrated to Boston at the young age of 19. It was in Boston where she met and eventually married her beloved husband Fernando Sr. and began their family. During her time in the U.S., she held several administrative positions with large insurance companies and once settled in Canada worked in food service.
Mom enjoyed many happy moments with her family, always keeping them close to her heart. With her immediate family residing in Italy, far from where she lived, she made repeated trips back to her hometown to maintain her connection with them. She also loved to cook, bake,Β and tend to her beautiful flower gardens.
We would like to thank the staff at Banwell Gardens Care Centre who cared for Mom throughout her stay. Thank you to the medical staff at Windsor Regional Hospital – Met Campus for their care during the final days of her life.
Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME- SOUTH CHAPEL, 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with parish prayers at 4:30.Β Funeral mass on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 2735 University Ave W,Β at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1805 Highway 3, Oldcastle, Ontario.
