TUKKER, Pamela Jayn Tukker

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Pamela Jayn Tukker, on July 16, 2026, from natural causes.

Pam was loved and cherished by all who knew her and she leaves a hole in our lives that cannot be filled.

She was a beloved partner to Tony Andrews, mother to Justin and Brandon (d. 2003), daughter to Ralph and Barb Tukker of Bowmanville, sister to Rod (Colleen) and Paul, aunt to Kai, Nyla, Jimmy and Juniper. She was also deeply loved by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, and a wealth of friends that she’d made throughout her life.

Pam had a knack for connecting with people and she treasured those connections. Even people she’d just met would experience her warmth, her thoughtfulness, her generosity and her incredible sense of fun and humour. Pam loved to laugh.

She grew up in Bowmanville as the oldest kid among a group of siblings and cousins, and so naturally took on a leadership role, always being the one to organize a game or an outing at the cottage, come up with a practical joke, or direct the group in a family Christmas pageant. She made things happen. It was easy to follow Pam’s lead because you always knew that whatever else, there would be some hilarity.

Pam made friends easily because she genuinely cared about people, their lives and families, and their challenges. She would be there when you needed her, with a message, a call or a visit, a card in the mail, or a home-cooked meal.

Pam’s life was not always easy but she faced her challenges or setbacks with strength and determination and never a complaint. When her son Brandon was born with severe health challenges, Pam, along with Brandon’s dad Harvey and brother Justin, did everything she possibly could to ensure he was surrounded by love and had the fullest, richest life possible. Losing Brandon was devastating for Pam but she never chose anger or despair or self-pity. She kept his memory alive with love and with gratitude for the joy Brandon brought her over those years. We can take some comfort in the thought that she is now with him again.

When Pam retired a few years ago after a long career at Co-Operators (where she again made many lifelong friends), she left Bowmanville to build a new life with Tony in Deep River. She quickly fell in love with the community she found there, often saying how much it reminded her of the small, friendly town that she grew up in. She soon had another group of cherished friends who she could play board games wth, cook meals for, and laugh with. She indulged one of her many creative passions when she took a part time job as a cake decorator at the local grocery store, and she was soon in high demand for her skillful work.

When Pam and Tony decided to start an Airbnb at their home in Deep River, it was like she had found her calling. She loved hosting people from all over the world, hearing their stories, and sharing her home. Many people would arrive as guests and leave almost as part of the family.

Pam was so many things to so many people. To her son Justin, she was a cool mom, the best in the world, always supportive, loving, and encouraging. She was incredibly proud of him, and treasured his regular visits to Deep River in her final years.

There was no one quite like Pam. When she turned 60, just a few months ago, she didn’t choose to mark the occasion with a big party for herself. She spent time visiting with friends and family, and took a memorable and laughter-filled trip out west to see her brothers. She made food and bought gifts for other people because that’s what truly brought her joy.

Pam will be terribly missed and never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Make-a-Wish Canada, or Ronald McDonald House.

Public visitation will be at Northcutt Elliott funeral home, 53 Division St., Bowmanville, on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m.

A Celebration of Life for Pam will be held at Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church, 130 Scugog St., Bowmanville, on Monday July 27th, 2026 at 2 p.m
